Feeling a little lost, I'm about to graduate with a music degree yet feel unsure how to move forward from there. My main thing is composing.

I want to get into composing but I realise that could take some time and I want to do somethig related to music but I feel as though I have picked the wrong music degree or I have to go to a postgraduate and I am not sure I can afford that. Help!

  • Hi Tai - don't worry about what degree you've got, I'm sure you've learned plenty. You don't neccesarily need a postgrad either. There's loads of people out there who need music composing for all sorts of things, the trick is getting in front of those people and yes that will take time. None of those people will be interested in your degree/postgrad - they'll care about you and your music! : )
  • Keep an eye out for short filmmakers looking for music. There won't be much budget but you'll meet lots of interesting people and build a portfolio. Good luck.
  • @Ikran Zamir thanks I was aware of Roundhouse and wired4music but not the others.
  • you could try out different music projects for young creatives. you might already know them but the roundhouse, wired4music, raw material, youpress do some. Sorry if this isn’t helpful
