Has anyone heard of crypto or block chain art ? Someone I know thinks I’d be good at it and I haven’t got a clue

- Hey guys just adding to this thread as since posting I’ve become fascinated with the blockchain and have finally minted some NFTS. I’m very wary of the big brands leading the discussions on this space as it’s community aim is to be decentralised if that’s the right way of describing it. Anyone else interested or want to discuss ?
- @Sophy Robson One final drop: Very good collection of articles… https://loopifyyy.medium.com/
- @Sophy Robson here's another article that has a good collection of NFT art and collectibles portales at it's very bottom (including Nifty)…https://news.bitcoin.com/nft-craftiness-mint-a-non-fungible-token-art-collectible-in-less-than-15-minutes/
- @Roland Lindner ah thank you Roland. Yes Nifty is the one he keeps telling me to look at
- Also, one word: Cryptokitties!https://www.cryptokitties.co/
- It's all about so-called NFCs or “Non-fungible Tokens”…https://cointelegraph.com/magazine/nonfungible-tokens/Basically, it's like a digital watermark in the blockchain linked to a single digital asset, which makes it unique and uniquely identifiable.https://loopifyyy.medium.com/what-is-an-nft-how-do-i-make-money-from-selling-my-art-as-a-nft-bb91811b93dfhttps://nonfungible.com (NF Database)Also have a look at https://niftygateway.com/ which is one of the first plattforms to do these digital art drops.
- @Sophy Robson Google is your best friend for any terms you don’t understand. Because it’s all still new, there are loads of articles floating around with useful explanations. Ah thanks! Your work’s great too...it’ll definitely translate well to digital pieces!
- @Colin Kersley ah thank you. Yes there is certainly a lot of new *lingo* I’ve never heard of and a lot to figure out so that’s a great starting point. I love your illustrations btw
- Hey Sophy,I’ve been looking into it over the last week and my main bit of advice is read up on it as much as you can - about the platforms and how the transaction side of it works.A good starting point is this article - hazmus.medium.com/one-way-to-become-a-cryptoartist-4b3217b60369There are a lot of platforms (most have an application process that takes a while) and a lot of different ways to buy/transfer Etherium (the digital currency you’ll need). When buying Etherium, make sure you double check transaction costs or withdrawal limits etc. Also, do some research on Gas as this is an extra cost when tokenising (minting) your work. There are loads of weird new terms you’ll need to learn so just soak up as much information as you can about it all.I hope that helps a bit!
