Has anyone heard of crypto or block chain art ? Someone I know thinks I’d be good at it and I haven’t got a clue

  • Hey guys just adding to this thread as since posting I’ve become fascinated with the blockchain and have finally minted some NFTS. I’m very wary of the big brands leading the discussions on this space as it’s community aim is to be decentralised if that’s the right way of describing it. Anyone else interested or want to discuss ?
  • It's all about so-called NFCs or “Non-fungible Tokens”…

Basically, it's like a digital watermark in the blockchain linked to a single digital asset, which makes it unique and uniquely identifiable.

Also have a look at https://niftygateway.com/ which is one of the first plattforms to do these digital art drops.
  • @Sophy Robson Google is your best friend for any terms you don’t understand. Because it’s all still new, there are loads of articles floating around with useful explanations. Ah thanks! Your work’s great too...it’ll definitely translate well to digital pieces!
  • Hey Sophy,

I’ve been looking into it over the last week and my main bit of advice is read up on it as much as you can - about the platforms and how the transaction side of it works.

A good starting point is this article - hazmus.medium.com/one-way-to-become-a-cryptoartist-4b3217b60369

There are a lot of platforms (most have an application process that takes a while) and a lot of different ways to buy/transfer Etherium (the digital currency you’ll need). When buying Etherium, make sure you double check transaction costs or withdrawal limits etc.

Also, do some research on Gas as this is an extra cost when tokenising (minting) your work. There are loads of weird new terms you’ll need to learn so just soak up as much information as you can about it all.

I hope that helps a bit!
