  • @Mike McCoole: Design thank you so so much for taking the time to give me your detailed feedback and your honest opinion!! It's very helpful and motivates me to change my website and doing more research on other print designers as well.

@Oliver Craddock thank you so so much for your feedback!!Its very helpful!!

@Morphe Digital Design thank you so so much for your detailed feedback!! It helps a lot and makes sense not having so many projects on the side and not too many pictures on each project.

I will keep you posted when I finish my website :)
  • Thanks for sharing Siobhan! I would switch this around and absolutely lead with your best work as opposed to your about me. If you think that people may only view a website for a matter of seconds its about bringing the content that you think sells you best to the fore. Hope that helps :)
  • Hey Siobhán, nice work and thanks for sharing.

I have some feedback for you if you're interested.

So many nice pieces on your site; Secret Garden, Essential Surface, Florals and In my dream are bursting with colour and energy- I'd be inclined to bring them to the fore. As there is little or no description/back story with some projects- I'm wondering if you could have a visual gallery (choosing the strongest images) instead of all these projects on individual pages?

Currently your Home Page lands on your 'About Me' and it doesn't show or highlight the projects I mention above- so the visitor isn't landing on your strongest page. Visitors (prospective employees) need a quick snapshot of your work and I feel a gallery-style might work better.

If that is too difficult maybe consider a montage where your profile picture currently resides (and takes up a lot of real estate). Maybe replace with a 'moodboard' header like this (bursting with colour from your projects not B&W):

or even a posed photo with some photoshopping with your lovely patterns like this ("In My Dream" "Essential Surface" patterns would work lovely):

would give visitors reason to delve a little further.

I would also have a fresh pair of eyes check your opening statement as it's quite important (repetition of words and a few typos like 'appraoch'). The work experience list could be stronger too (the entry looks like a link).

The layout changes on a few pages which comes as a shock to the user; Floral Dreams and Draping for example - where the side nav disappears. Some layouts (especially in Photography) stretch your images, which obviously distorts your lovely work (and makes your site look broken on the Print Design with Kaledio).

It's not entirely clear at first glance if the photos in the projects i.e. 'Glas Dreams' are a start to finish of images. If so, I would show final piece first (if that makes sense).

Hope this helps (and please don't view it negatively - Iike I said - I think Secret Garden, Essential Surface, Florals and In my dream projects are amazing and the strongest images from these projects need to be shown off more.)

Be interesting to see what others think and maybe to see what other Fashion/Printer portfolios are like (which I haven't done).

    Cheers,
    Mike
