Hello people! Any advice on what / if would make sense to proceed with learning UX or UI design, having an architectural background? Thanks!

Due to the "awkward" work-situation lately, for most of the people, investing on expanding software skills - moreover getting a new position in a slightly different sector - might be considered either as a "risk" or a new opportunity. Understanding the design-process doesn't necessarily means that anyone would be "suitable" for a relative career-switch, especially nowadays where everything is a bit unclear and uncertain. Thus, jumping from architectural to UX / UI design, instead of expanding the skills on the first one contributes to a bigger confusion.
I am glad to share my thoughts with the entire community.
Be well, everybody!

  • A great tool to learn would be Adobe XD. Their tutorials are extremely useful. Although my profile states I'm an illustrator, I work as a UX/UI designer contracting and have taught myself over the past 10+ years. Spending big money on courses won't necessarily get you paid work, so stay curious and learn where you can.
