Hello! Would somebody be able to spare the time to look over my portfolio? I would really appreciate any help/advise you can offer.

  • Thanks for sharing your portfolio link! Ultimately you want to think about your end user and who it is you are aiming your site at! Everyone will have their opinions, but ultimately it is if you are happy with it and you are achieving your goals with the site. Visually it felt like you were a blogger rather than a designer, only until I read that you were a creative / art-worker. Personally I would have your work at the fore front of your website, so it is clear and obvious as to who you are. Visual impact followed by a few breadcrumbs into making the audience want to dive further into your site. There is definitely elements in which I would improve, maybe look into some parallax hover overs or how you could bring clickable elements to life.

Look at the parrallax on this site, I could see how your layered imagery on your homepage could work similar:

Out of interest: How did you build your website? Wordpress? Theme?

A desginer tip – look into getting a personal e-mail rather than using @gmail.com etc. Will make you look a-lot more professional.
  • @Anna-Marie Richardson I think it’s nice to have a mix of personal and team effort, just make sure you credit team members (if possible) and make sure it’s nice and clear which pieces are your own work. I always try to use a mock-up to display my work ( I think it’s nice seeing it in situ). That’s just my personal taste though
  • Hi Anna-Marie, I really like your site!
Although there is a few things I would tweak just to make even better.
Here is my suggestions - On your home page, on the " A little about me" the text type underneath has different type space between them, I would adjust the space in between or try a different font.
As well another tip is on the " I do best" you have three different circles with expecifications of what you do, the part of "digital design" it looks over flowed comparing to the other ones. A good way of fixing it it's by increasing the circles.

  • Hi Anna,

Everything looks very fresh and professional. Love your colour pallets! My only comment would be to try and reduce the number of examples per-project. “Show off magazine” is a good example, limit the number of pages and make the potential client want to see more of what you can do. I hope that makes sense? S
