Hi All, Any advice for a Photography graduate? Since graduating I haven't been able to get a single interview for a creative job.
I've long since lost count of the jobs I have applied for on here, and other sites. Exciting, creative and fulfilling jobs that I meet the requirements for. I'm sure most of you can relate to the sense of hopelessness and loss of confidence that this relentless stream of rejection can bring on. This summer will be my third since graduating and I have nothing to show for it. I'm at a loss as to how to get out of this ever deepening ditch. I have the degree, but I have none of the experience that many companies require, and simultaneously can't gain any as no one will take me on in the first place. It's both exhausting and frustrating. I'm learning that it really is a case of who you know, and as I've been forced back to my hometown after graduating, I unfortunately know no one. Today alone I have recieved 3 rejection emails- emails I should be thankful for as companys seldom aknowlege my applications. I feel stuck, and without direction. Any advice is warmly welcomed. Alex

- Hey Alex, sorry to hear you're having such a crap time.As has been said above already, a great way to get in with people/companies who require certain experience is to make your own projects, and make them regularly. Constantly making new work that you're passionate about is a great way to keep motivated, grow as an artist, get your work out there AND also have something substantial and recent to show when you're trying to gain work - this is the number one thing I've been doing over the last few years which helped me get work even in most unexpected ways (e.g I joined Twitter to show off my work and network with other artists, and this helped me get a job in marketing at a print lab later on).Always happy to help so if you want to talk through, feel free to get in touch via email (I'm on hello@ameenarojee.co.uk).
- Hi Alexander,I saw this post on Linkedin this week which might give you a boost - https://www.linkedin.com/posts/alfie-isa-marsh-0a435a69_mindset-activity-6640620090373079040-RR2THave you looked at any remote job work sites? They may not be exactly what you are after but I've found if you can explore other areas of the relevant industry to boost your CV and just to further your overall knowledge it can be of real benefit towards getting the job you would like. As a graduate of 4 years I am still based in my hometown and have found I've gained a broader range of experience that I expected as there is less competition here....I've also been able to save money and I keep in contact with friends around the world by calling or writing letters. What sort of experience are these companies asking for that you don't have? Are there any online courses you could take from say Lindatraining or Youtube you could take?I hope this helps
