Hi all, I’m looking for some advice on length of cv for a graphic designer with 7 years experience, should it be one page?

I’m about to re-do my CV, I have around 7 years experience as I designer. Should I keep to one page? Should I add previous roles before I became a designer. Now looking for more senior design roles. Any advice would be welcome.

  • @Abigail Baldwin Thank you so much for your reply, very helpful. I wiil take this on, I think I am getting to that stage of second-guessing myself now and unsure of which way to proceed, so your advice is very welcomed. I certainly do have experience in hospitality to management level.

    Thank you.
  • Stew! I'm surprised you've not had more comments on here.

If you're applying for a design role, I think it's great to focus on your design experience. That said, as an employer, I like to see people have has experience in retail or hospitality too — it's tough out there. These kinds of roles show you probably have some level of resilience and people skills (super important).

I would write a short paragraph of responsibilities for your most recent roles, and then just one-line for the rest of your experience (with a focus on skills).

Keep it to two-sides of A4, maximum, and you'll be onto a winner.
