Wow thank you so much! I didn’t quite get how much the difference is about raster line drawing and vector shape making. I have worked in illustrator for so long now, but I always really love to sketch and the disconnect between translating line to screen in illustrator is difficult.
I think i’d like to see if im more comfortable making images directly with the feeling of pen on paper. Thank you for such a clear reply that's really helpful!

  • My favourite Display Tablet is the Wacom Cintiq Pro 24, or 32" depending on size preference. I have the 24" you can get a touch option for a little extra but i dont have it as it comes with a multifunctional remote that has zoom and rotate features. The remote will also rest on either side of your tablet. Since the tablet is made for drawing it really feels like drawing on paper and there are over 8000 levels of pressure sensitivity so It has little to no lag from the tablet at least from what i can see. The wacoms can be expensive but there are other competitiors main one being huion or XP-Pen. only problem id say is they arent portable so you cant take them anywhere. On the other hand if you mean tablets such as an Ipad then i'd go with the Ipad Pro or the Microsoft surface Pro tablets.
  • iPad Pro and cintiq are both great. I own both and use both. It comes down to feel a bit. They draw slightly differently. With a Wacom you can change nibs and there are a range of sizes so it might depend on your drawing style. Purely in terms of drawing I think the cintiq might slightly shade it. Only by a tiny bit and it really comes down to personal preference. If I could only buy one I would absolutely go with the iPad as you get a drawing tablet and everything else an IPad offers. It's like a whole studio and so so much more.
