Hi there! Just finished a mini documentary and want to share it with the world. Would be great to heard some feedback! Thanks

Really pleased to share the Mantra Music documentary I’ve done for @mantramusic_uk a record label and charity that works with care-experienced young artists.

I got to get the amazing stories from @dialecticdee @utelkajohnson @ydthelonewolf @kingxoul and their journey at Mantra.

It was really interesting and eye opening to hear how, although having similar experiences, they have each developed themselves in a different way but all coincide through their art and creativity with the same aim of being heard, sharing their care and understanding for others.

If there is a way to describe all of them at once it would be as one of the most empathetic groups I’ve ever met.

All the above has been made thanks to Mantra’s founder @ricflomusic , you can see how his tireless continuous work to talk about what it is to be in care through his music and Mantra has had a big influence on the guys.

Also it was great fun to shoot on 16mm 🎥🎞

  • @David Morgan really appreciate it! I will definitely let you know :)
  • @Michelangelo Torres Hi Mr Torres! :)
Thanks so much for your feedback, I agree with you pretty much with all of it.

The reason why I didn't add musical interludes it is merely timing wise, not only the one I have editing it but also the length, I didn't wanted to make it longer than that. Also I thought cause it was ultimately about the charity more than their individual music I could live without these.

I use Dehancer as a starting point indeed, and then some tweaks from there on top.

Thank you so much for having the time not only watching it but giving me your feedback. It means a lot to me as many of this small projects get lost forgotten in the internet so it is quite nice to heard from time to time the opinion of some other viewers and proffessionals.

This is my insta @carlostorrespictures if you want give me a follow and I follow you back so I can check your stuff!
  • Hello Mr. Torres (where have I heard this last name before? Sound familiar!)

As a documentary filmmaker who enjoys working on music-oriented projects, I enjoyed your and your collaborators' work.

Narratively your film gave me a clear idea of the collective you wanted to portray, so the storytelling is solid.

The editing works, it has a good rhythm, perhaps some musical interludes would have helped, but here we enter the realm of personal taste.

Visually, I found the idea of portraying the talents in profile very apt, this allowed you to adopt rather effective graphic solutions such as the one at 4:31.

I also liked the film-style grading, I don't know if you shot on film or you used a LUT or, again, you refined the color with Filmconvert or Dehancer, I'd be curious to know.

Ultimately, I'd say it's done a good job
