How can brands put action behind their black squares?

In my latest piece for Creative Review I take a look at the backslash brands approach behind their online protest: https://www.creativereview.co.uk/black-lives-matter-brands/

  • @colin mordi agree, Leonie’s piece has the makings of a fantastic podcast. Getting listeners/readers to think & consider their position is tricky as we all know and she’s nailed it here
  • Leonie this is a wonderful think piece which says what I’m thinking far more eloquently than I could. Thank you for sharing. I’ve forwarded your piece to a number of friends & colleagues. Living in the Cotswolds (having spent my first 30+ yrs in North Kent/London) I’m continually distraught and genuinely fearful of the “jam & Jerusalem” bubble here, especially its impact on children & young people. I mainly work with education settings & charities and will be using your piece (duly credited & acknowledged of course) to highlight the need for consistency & constant evaluation over misguided short term responses which tick a box to say “yep covered that subject” but never effect change. I fear those responses are prevalent here and are more damaging than doing nothing as people think they’ve done enough. Thanks again
  • Hi Leonie,
    Hope all is well?
I just read your piece VERY interesting and straight to the point.
Have you thought about doing a podcast?
    Colin
