How can I land a Composer or Sound Edit job for TV without experience?
I've recently been made redundant from a Media & Edit Support Operator position in a Post House and my plan originally was to move up to an Audio position, however this of course was not possible. How can I land a job in Audio or Music for TV without the relevant years of experience that most positions seem to be asking for?. I should add, I have previously composed music for two indie films and a number of Theatre plays. Any advice would be very welcomed. Thank you.

- Hi Richard,You want to ALWAYS be building your portfolio - this is your calling card.Great that you have a few jobs under your belt.Start contacting other freelance composers and sound designers who do work you love. Let them know that if they have any projects that are low budget or need assistance, you are looking to prove yourself and gain experience, and ask whether they would be happy to try you out. Also contact filmmakers, videographers and offer your work for free.Do an amazing job, work to deadline, build a portfolio. Build a reputation for being friendly, easy to work with, and remember that feedback/tweaks are to be expected: you'll need a thick skin for working with creatives, directors and agencies who want things just right. In the meantime, also apply for every relevant job you see - and ask for feedback if you don't get it: this will reveal the gapsGood luck.
