I am planning to create an Illustration portfolio but I have no work experience in the field. What would you suggest?

I am not sure on what kind of projects I would need to add as I have never worked or studied in this field and I don't have official/professional ones.

  • @sudeeksha somani I was thinking that, thank you !!
  • Hey don’t worry about it too much! You can always make up briefs for the kind of projects you want to work on, just mention that when you’re putting it up. Personal projects are also fun! Show your thought process because that matters a lot in a portfolio
  • Don't stress on having an illustration style, that will evolve and develop over time. Don't be afraid of old school pen and paper before using programmes etc. Draw what makes you happy, this will show personality and give energy to your work! Set yourself your own mini briefs, be your own client, set small deadlines so you can work around your schedule!
  • Personal projects are great! Also, depending on the area of illustration you want to go into, set some fake briefs for yourself. E.g. a book cover, illustrate an article, etc. to show how your work fits in.
