I would really appreciate if anyone could give some constructive comments on my online portfolio website! Anything you like/dislike?

  • @Ekavi Stavraki Thank you so much!! I started from scratch really, I needed to make a name for myself for my uni module and promote my work on various platforms - I researched how other stylists/creatives promote themselves and used this info to try and come up with something new and fresh! The website was made on wix (it takes a while if you start on a blank canvas like me but definitely worth it) and I made my logo by experimenting on photoshop!
  • I love it honestly ! Very innovative. Could you share some insight on how you made it?

Hey Abbie, I’m glad the feedback helped.

I would just state who you are, either in first or 3rd person (e.g. I am a fashion stylist based...My work revolves around...) and I would state what you are looking for; brands, types of work maybe.

I’m a photographer so the websites i’ve looked at have different sections such as education, client work, exhibitions, features, etc. I’m not sure how different that would be from a stylist perspective but it gives the client/brand straight to the point info about you, which is what everyone is looking for at the end of the day!

Let me know how that works out for you!

  • @Joe La'Val Thank you very much for this feedback! What you said about the 'About me' section is really helpful, even though I researched other online portfolio's, I found it really challenging to create my own site from scratch! I'll definitely re-evaluate based on your feedback! What type of things would you recommend to have in the 'About me' page?
  • hey Abbie!

I like what you’ve done with your website, using a distinctive typeface for your logo is important and pays off well. As mentioned, it is hard to read in the body so i would change that.

Your About me page, I would change the way you speak about yourself. Avoid saying you’re studying and put that in an education section. When you say “this portfolio displays...” i would take that out: you want the portfolio to speak for itself!

    Hope that helps :)
  • @Tanel S Wow! Thank you so much for such in depth feedback! I made this website during one of my university projects and it had to fit specific needs, so definitely needs improving/updating!
  • I like overall look and how it is created.
I do like full screen mode. Hard to find though.

I think you don't need that intro page with big logo. Some users may not click.
I get the style with fonts however I still believe that body copy font could be more readable.
I don't like dropdown menu navigation. If you could improve navigation that would be great. Perhaps add next / previous project thumbnails under open project page.

Content is really creative and it is experience to browse.
