Illustrator question: Where can I learn about creating a graphic novel?

My day job is creating illustrations for media, business etc but one of the personal projects I want to explore is to (one day) make a graphic novel. Would love to find a course or even books to learn more.

  • @Jane Spencer I hope so, I can clearly see the projects coming in my head (and sketchbook) right now... Always a good sign! Good luck with your project and thanks for the connection!
  • Well this is something I'll look forward to fitting in when I have time- its for a long term project. Good luck with After Effects, that'll be super- useful.

  • @Jane Spencer I have been taking a lot of courses there, it suits me. I ma learning After effects at the moment, and while there is a bit of everything regarding teacher's skills, I found incredible teachers there. You have to test out what suits you. (For example I prefer longer, in depth courses when the subject is new to me)
  • @Sandrine Bascouert This looks perfect for me- just dipping my toe in, thanks so much... Are you planning to upskill on skillshare?
  • Hi Jane!
I know nothing about graphic novels, but this morning I had some recommendations on Skillshare for some classes:
    https://www.skillshare.com/classes/Graphic-Novels-Writing-Your-Own-Comic/1185283957

    https://www.skillshare.com/classes/Lets-Make-a-Graphic-Novel-Getting-Started/2044099211

but there are others (and other platforms as well!)

given the lengh it's not likely to be in-depth, but maybe it can get you started? Sorry if it's not relevant!

there is a code here for 1 month free if you want to try it out (I think you can cancel anytime)
