Looking to assist a portrait photographer to gain working experience in the industry.

I'm a 3rd year photography student about to graduate from Norwich University of the Arts. I'm interested in portrait and fashion photography, and would like to start assisting to gain industry experience.
I'm currently based in Norwich, but willing to commute to London and possibly relocate after graduation in July.

  • Hey Emanuela - Your best bet is going to be reaching out to photographers directly, explaining your skills and experience (or just willingness and enthusiasm if just starting out) and getting on to their radar that way.

I would build a list of names of those who you would really like to work with in the areas of photography that interest you but also look further afield as you never know if a different genre might be really interesting.
It's best to keep track of who you have contacted and when so that you can make notes on their responses you get and know when to periodically nudge them again if they say 'try again in a month or so'.

Also worth keeping an eye on @Kid Circus 's insta stories as there are assisting opportunities popping up on there every week. (Just make sure you DM the person tagged not Kid)
