Marketing Agencies, do you prefer to hire experienced staff (4+ years)? Or Junior and train them up?

We’re in a state of constant growth and I’m intrigued by the approach other agency owners, directors and senior team builders take to fill gaps in their teams.

No recruiters please, I’m not looking just asking.

  • Hi Sam, my experience is the following so far...
I think both approach can be useful. Hiring an experienced person saves time, but of course it comes with a higher "price". If you have a bigger client, clients and you need to deliver the best with your agency, invest into an experienced marketer.
But... a junior person can be great as well, you can train juniors to your own standards and processes, really make them "yours". Also they tend to be more open - that means they will more likely to learn fast in the new enviroment which is beneficial for your agency.
At the end of the day, everything depends on the given situation.
Hope it helped a bit :)
