Solo Freelancer or Agency?
So…I’m just putting this marketing question out there hoping that I may get your opinion on something that I’ve been struggling with for quite a while.
To try and explain:
I’ve been a solo, Freelancer Illustrator for a number of years now but unlike most Illustrators, I don’t tend to stick to just one signature style as I find that SO BORING.
I also do a lot of graphic design and animation work which on the face of it, comes across more like the output of an agency than a lone star Illustrator and I find that most of my clients are other creatives or agencies looking to fill a skill gap for their projects.
At the moment, I market myself as just me (iamscotty) but I fear that I may come across as a “Jack Of All Trades” which in a way I am but I don’t want the negative stigma that’s attached to it.
I’ve asked this question to a number of Business Advisors but they don’t quite understand the world of design like well….Designers do.
So here’s my question:
Would you think it’s better to carry on marketing myself as a solo Freelancer or more towards looking like a creative agency?
I’m not trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes and start using the “We” word or anything.
More like using another name other than my own as a sort of umbrella for what I do?
Here’s a link to my current site purely to show you where I am right now and some of the work I do so you have a better idea.
