UX Design entry job advice/hunt.

Hello fellow creatives!

I've been trying to apply for the UX Design role for a while unsuccessfully.

It looks like companies are looking for already experienced UX Designer and I found no entry level UX positions...

My question to you is:
Are you able to give me any advice on where/how I could secure an entry UX job? Or maybe you have one to offer?
Any websites, communities you would recommend?

Skillshare UX course was helpful but I know I would learn more and faster on the actual job! :)

I would very much appreciate your input and expertise!

  • Make sure you have a very strong portfolio. Even if you haven't worked with any clients yet, make up a project and walk through your process and how you'd approach a problem. There are many great videos on YouTube on how to make up a case study. Meanwhile you can try to freelance and do projects for your friends that will help to get things started. And yes the market is really oversaturated with applicants so really need to stand out with your portfolio.
  • I spoke with a UX recruiter last week who interestingly said that there is a huge amount of Junior UX applicants for each job advertised at the moment, so its just a case of keep applying and also work on your portfolio. My advice would be If you have all the skills needed for a junior role but not the working experience still apply.

I have seen UX apprenticships being advertised maybe a role like this would suit you more,?

I'm returning to the work place following a career break and also finding it difficult to get back into a Product/UX / UI role as i'm not wanting to go back in at a senior level but looking for a returnship or placement first. I have applied for 100's of jobs and only 5 interviews, so yyou are not alone!
