Virtual Reality for lasting change. I want to root the experience in diversity. What topic/s would be the most effective?

This VR experience would immerse people in a range of situations, where they'd get to fully appreciate what it's like to walk in another's shoes. We all live our own lives and consequently don't have the perspective of others. This permeates everything, but is mainly felt when it comes to prejudices. Prejudices are driven by fear and underpinned by a lack of experience and knowledge. My hope is that immersion in the 'other side of the fence’, will seed an awareness that will stay with the user after they’ve removed the VR headset.
An idea that came from talking and sharing life experiences, made me realise how powerful an engagement like this could be. I’m sure we can all think of one or two world leaders (alive or dead) who would benefit from eight minutes of immersive, perspective-shifting VR.

  • Hi Owen, what a great idea. Although most topics would be really useful, I'd suggest job hunting - giving recruiters the insight. Best wishes!
