What are peoples views on the use of colour in food branding?

Are there any examples where certian colours manipulate the brands intention? if anyone knows of any interesting links or books, please share because I am interested into researching further into this.

  • Hi Hannah,

Food branding traditionally very colourful, full of primary colours. Back in time when they researched it first place, they found it gets people attention. So yes there is definitely some objective in colours when it comes to food.
  • There are some great resources:
    Books:
    Chromaphobia Book by David Batchelor
The Luminous and the Grey by David Batchelor

Interaction of color Book by Josef Albers
it also mentions Coke and their brand colour red.

I will post later some food branding talks video lectures
