- I had to hire a coach in order to identify my future goal and/or confirm the path that was best for me given my stregths and weaknesses. I was useful and asking for help is probably a good first step. Then liking the idea of taking a risk and making it inevitable I guess. All the best !
- Hi Natalie! Two pieces of advice on this one, which allowed me to move into different industries. One, is to find a way to gain experience in the field you're looking to move into - whether it's a volunteer project etc. The other - and probably most crucial - is to look for roles in new industries which are specifically looking for skillsets from other industries. So, for example, if you've worked in events but want to work in publishing, you should look for events manager roles in publishing houses. It might take a bit of time but this is the best way I know to transition field without starting from scratch. Hope that helps, Alexandra
- Get work experience if you can - often our idea of something isn't always the same in reality. Ask people in the industry you're interested in. You can do this by joining groups (Facebook, Linkedin, here!). Basically get tips from those who know on what it's really like, places to find work etc. So overall, the message is, 'don't be afraid to ask'. :)
