What do talented website designers call themselves these days? UX/UI, UI, or Digital Designer?

  • I use different names depending on focus. Haven´t found one good one yet.

Web designer = When working with other entrepreneurs who need mainly marketing-focused websites.

Product designer = When I want to collect much €€€ :D
Okay, real talk. Usually when partnering with startups to design digital products. It can also be a web application for example.
The line between product designer and UI/UX designer is a bit shady.
I would say as a product designer you need to be involved in product development.

UI/UX designer. I mostly use it when I just transform specific requirements into user-friendly visuals. It can be a more complex website (as an example: you can get your car insurance through web flow), web application, mobile app, or any kind of user interface design.

Visual designer. I mostly use it when working in larger teams and paired with UX designers.

Multidisciplinary digital designer. Tried that. Sounded fancy. It seemed that it gave a bit weird vibe and nobody really understood what I was doing.

Sometimes I go just by a freelance designer. If there is context people know what it means. If there is no context they could check my links and see. I do also graphic design and branding and bit of interaction design so depending on the people I talk to I can open it up if necessary.

I wish it could be easier.

  • Actually depends saying you design UX/UI means you implies you do coding aswel. They are not Digital Designers that is used in the field Graphic Design industry where the platform they’re designing for is digital.
  • Dear Mr Jones.
Normally we call ourselves Web designer.
And we also call UI/UX designer.
    Thanks.

    Best
    Robert.
