What is your biggest hurdle to finding work/ progressing, when you have a disability or chronic illness

It's a conversation I have on a daily basis, and I am keen to start it on this platform as well. What are the barriers to entering the workforce, and once you're in there, why aren't disabled people progressing up the company? If you are disabled, or have a chronic or mental health illness I would love to hear your insights and thoughts on this question.

  • For me, it's been getting people to take it seriously. They'd known me for so long without issues, I had jokes made etc. when I started using a walking stick and a blue badge. Even now, as I'm allowed to park outside our office building, usually reserved only for managers, there's odd comments made.
