What tool can you recommend for automated email marketing?
Hi there, I'm a freelance brand designer and finally want to send out newsletters on a regular basis. I've started setting up Mail Chimp. However, it's not all straight forward like finding the created ones in a few short clicks, where to enter the subject line and need to work out a design which brings across my branding a bit better. I do like the sending out as a test version.
However, maybe it's just a beginner's issue or are there other ones out there which are worth trying?
Thanks :)

- @Lu Li Amazing, thanks for the tip Lu Li! ;-)
- @Sharon Hinds I agree, these two usually are the best options.
- Mailchimp or Send in Blue are good platforms
- I use Mailchimp and it took me a while to create an email that I'm happy with, but now I build on the previous month's campaign/template switching things around and freshening it up so it feels like it's always improving and now it's super easy. Their videos or youtube tutorials might help you get your head round it. I've also seen some beautiful emails by Flo Desk https://flodesk.com but I think it's paid no matter how large your sub list is. I'm still getting away with using Mailchimp for free so as a cheapskate I'm sticking there for now!
- Check out Substack, they make it really really simple for people to write their newsletters. It's also 100% free no matter how many subscribers. The caveat is that it's designed more for writers than people showing graphics, although you can include graphics of course. So it depends on what content you want to offer in your newsletter. ConvertKit is a good platform for 'designed' newsletters, but will cost you something at some point.
- @Laura Rodrigues Thanks Laura! I heard about Flodesk before not about Active Campaign yet but will check both out :)
- Hey! I think mailchimp is a good one to explore, if you’re already all set up there. But Active Campaign is also a great tool in case you want to look it up. I’ve also heard of Flodesk, but I think this one is a bit expensive.
