Join independent researcher and gallerist Rui Li (Sally) and four jewellery and metal artists to find out about how creative ideas are formed in contemporary China and their dynamic relationship with traditional metalsmithing.

Contemporary jewellery and metal are becoming increasingly popular in China amongst art lovers and urban consumers. This lecture will present an overview of current development of the field, covering four perspectives: teaching of jewellery and metal in the higher education system, activities of craft related enterprises, development of traditional production hubs, and practices of the BR Gallery, the first gallery which focuses on contemporary jewellery and metal in China.
