G.F Smith and FranklinTill present The Colour Futures Sessions – a series of digital seminars exploring the power of colour in design.

Colour Futures #1 "Organic Matters"

What role can colour play in leading us toward a more sustainable future? How can we continue to draw deeper inspiration from nature, beyond the lush hues of the natural world?

In an era of climate emergency forward-thinking designers across all disciplines are seeking to harness the power of nature’s super-efficient circular systems. As we look for more meaningful connection to the natural world, and seek transparency and narrative in the materials we use, organically-derived palettes come to the fore.

When materials are drawn directly from nature it seems all but counterintuitive to cover them in a uniform coat of pigment, and more appropriate to celebrate their defining characteristics – beautiful imperfection and rich unpredictability. We explore the shift from colour standardisation to colour variation, and the role of material composition to inform colour.

To compliment the series FranklinTill have curated a special ‘Organic Matters’ selection of G.F Smith papers, available through gfsmith.com after the event.
