Want to learn how to write an effective cover letter?

This session is only available to UAL's Students and Graduates.
Are you unsure what the employer really wants you to show and explain after reading through a job description or person specification? Do you want to gain some insights on how you can write an effective cover letter, helping to set you apart from other applicants?
Join the Careers & Employability team to learn how you can prepare a cover letter for a role when it is advertised with a job description and/or person specification attached.
In this session we will explore:
  • What the function of a job description and person specification are during your job searching journey
  • What an employer or recruitment wants to know about a candidate
  • How to interpret information presented by an employer on a job description
  • Different writing techniques that support you to write succinctly and concisely
This session is ideal for student and graduates who are applying for work opportunities or considering beginning their job searching journey and are keen to learn how to extract key information when reading job descriptions.
If you believe there are any barriers to your participation in this event or you have any access requirements you wish to discuss, we would be happy to talk to you. Please contact careers-support@arts.ac.uk in advance.
