Craig Ward is an independent Design Director with interdisciplinary experience at the highest levels across myriad verticals spanning fashion and beauty, technology, publishing, architecture, the arts and music.
Formerly Head of Design at Grey, NY; Global Head of Art at Aesop and SVP Head of Design at Deutsch, his eclectic client list includes Calvin Klein, Zoom, Google, The Wall Street Journal, Squarespace, Domino Records, Nike, Adobe and his work has featured on the covers of TIME Magazine, WIRED, Creative Review and The Washington Post.
Ward's personal projects have been featured and profiled by the likes of New York Magazine, WIRED and Fast Company and documented in countless books, journals and exhibitions from the Museum of The City of New York, The Cooper Union, The Hammer Museum of Los Angeles to the UK, Europe and the Far East.
His first book - Popular Lies About Graphic Design (Actar, 2012) - became an Amazon best-seller for two editions and was also translated into four languages. Later, in 2015, Computer Arts Magazine named him as one of the 25 most important designers of all time.
In 2018 he became only the second designer in history (the first being Neville Brody) to create a custom typeface for the England national football team.
Alongside agency award credits (which include D&AD, One Show, ADC and Cannes Lions wins), Ward is a five-time recipient of both the Type Directors Club’s Award for Typographic Excellence and the Communication Arts Award of Excellence.
He has spoken (and continue to speak) at events such as Adobe MAX (Los Angeles), TEDx (Philadelphia), for the AIGA and The Typographics Conference (New York) and at The OFFF Festival (Paris) as well as at various universities.
