Overview of job
Global’s Communications team has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Publicist, to play an important role in supporting the team.
The successful candidate will be providing administrative and publicity support for Global’s entertainment brands and initiatives, including Heart, Capital, Radio X, Official Big Top 40 by Global, Global Player, Global Original podcasts, Global’s Make Some Noise and The Global Awards.

Supported the team on publicising daily content from the radio brands
Responsibilities of the role
You’ll support the Senior Publicity Manager and Senior Publicist on generating press for Capital, Heart and Radio X along with supporting the wider communications team.
Writing for consumer communications (this could include articles, press releases, media alerts, packaging newslines, blogs and case studies)
Writing programme information for the radio brands
We get a lot of media enquiries, so you’ll be helping deal with day-to-day requests from the media as well as proactively pitching stories to the press, building relationships with journalists and maintaining media lists
Supporting the team with PR campaigns, working to deliver a strategy and then taking responsibilities for your own campaigns
Evaluate PR campaigns – monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of PR campaigns and measuring their impact
Events – helping to plan, organise and co-coordinate events alongside Global’s brilliant events team, and supporting on red carpet media management at Global’s live events
Photoshoots - helping to plan presenter photoshoots
Budgets – taking charge of finance processes related to PR spend
Social media support – working with Global’s Digital Communications Manager on Global and Global Player’s social media output in a strategic and effective way across all major social platforms, with a particular focus on content creation, community management, and planning
Media monitoring – ensure that the business and radio brands are kept up to date with key coverage, creating daily cuttings alerts and a weekly press coverage highlights document
What you will need
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:
1 or 2 years experience in publicity, public relations or marketing
Great written skills, bundles of enthusiasm, full of initiative and able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of publicity
Good understanding of the media environment (including social media) and the news gathering process
Ability to manage own workload effectively and assess priorities to meet conflicting deadlines, often at short notice and under pressure.
A good news sense with ability to write crisp, clear and lively press releases and copy
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A good working knowledge and use of social media for promoting content
Able to quickly and effectively management administrative tasks
Excellent IT skills, with the ability to adapt to new IT systems
A creative streak would be very welcome
