Description

Closing Date: 18-Oct-2024

We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion across our organisation. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and the Global Majority are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single specification. If you’re excited about the role but your experience or qualifications don’t perfectly align, we encourage you to apply anyway. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups such as the global majority, LGBTQA+, and those with a disability and neurodiverse conditions.
The role:
The Commercial Events Manager plays a crucial role at the Globe and, in collaboration with the Head of Corporate Partnerships, will continue to develop the strategy for income growth from commercial events at Shakespeare’s Globe. The role will lead on the management of revenue streams from bespoke event opportunities and oversee the successful operational delivery of a year-round programme of income-generating activity to deliver targets. The Commercial Events Manager will be responsible for bringing new clients into the Globe’s spaces, driving business through venue hires and bespoke events, and will act as an internal expert in commercial event operations. Always supporting the Globe’s wider charitable aims and objectives, the role is perfect for someone who enjoys project and event management, is motivated by meeting and exceeding targets, and who will take pride in growing this important area of our commercial business.
The skills:
  • Proven experience of events management including demonstrable event sales, operations and marketing experience.
  • Experience of managing the planning and delivery of multiple events simultaneously with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
  • Experience of working to achieve financial sales targets, new business development and creating appropriate marketing materials.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, with a well-developed sense of tact and diplomacy.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships and open communication with colleagues cross-organisationally, suppliers, and clients at all seniority levels.
The team:
The Shakespeare Globe Trust is a registered charity.  Shakespeare’s Globe receives no annual subsidy from the Arts Council and, therefore, raises a critically important percentage of funds from the public each year. The Development Team focuses on nurturing relationships with Individuals, Trusts and Foundations and Corporates to support us and raise funds across three income streams: revenue, commercial, and capital. In addition, Shakespeare Globe Centre USA is an independent, but related, US charity that supports our fundraising activities in the USA and then donates to Shakespeare’s Globe. We seek to empower everyone at the Globe (staff, volunteers, or committees) to embrace a fundraising culture and increase charitable giving as we work collaboratively towards our mission to make Shakespeare accessible to all.
Shakespeare’s Globe:
We celebrate Shakespeare’s transformative impact on the world by conducting a radical theatrical experiment. Inspired and informed by the unique historic playing conditions of two beautiful iconic theatres, our diverse programme of work harnesses the power of performance, cultivates intellectual curiosity, and excites learning to make Shakespeare accessible for all.
