Description

As a key member of the Rapha Finance team, this role is responsible for providing commercial finance support to the business through the production of key reporting as well as insightful ad hoc analysis. A key focus will be web sales, margin and variable costs, as this is our biggest channel. However, analysis may be required on any channel or cost centre depending on business imperatives, so a flexible approach is a must.
The Role:
Reporting:
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports using a range of sources, with a focus on web sales, margin and direct costs across all territories
  • Own actualisation of the commercial model, including web traffic, conversion and customer metrics and liaise closely with web trading and marketing departments to maintain an aligned forward view
  • Own and continue to develop and improve other financial models and trackers as required by the business
  • Act as the business owner for various BI reports, liaising with the data and analytics team to ensure these remain accurate and insightful
  • Work closely with the FP&A manager and analyst to support the delivery of full business budgets and forecasts and long range models as required
Margin:
  • Create and maintain financial revenue and margin forecasts by territory, working closely with merchandising and trading teams to understand movements in their view, and managing freight, duty and tax assumptions
  • Conduct dogged investigation into revenue and margin variances and ensure learnings are looped back into forecasts
  • Conduct system loads, reconciliations and checks for revenues and margin
  • Support senior management on pricing decision and analysis
  • Work with trading and merchandising to understand actions in place to address opportunities or risks, providing challenge and support as necessary
Costs:
  • Complete monthly direct costs variance analysis; understanding movements in carrier rate cards, channel/territory mix variances and other determining factors.
  • Summarise and explain variances for senior leadership, enabling the right decisions to be made
  • Work with management accountants to understand cost allocation processes for freight and related charges, ensuring commercial basis and accuracy
Business partnering:
  • Support the Commercial Controller in maintaining productive, challenging business relationships with key departments including Global Supply Chain, Logistics and Web-Trading
  • Support other teams with requests for financial information or analysis
The Candidate:
Essentials:
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting - part or newly qualified
  • At least 2 years’ analytical experience in a multi-territory, multi-currency environment
  • Analytical skills: Regularly completing complex analysis, surfacing insight, using multiple data sources, having to source, cleanse, transform and analyse data in Excel
  • Advanced Excel skills: Good examples of having developed from scratch or significantly improved and developed financial models and trackers in Excel/ G Sheet
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence tools (we use Power BI)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong academics
  • Energetic, excited to learn with a growth mindset
  • Flexible approach to work, acting in the best interest of the business
Useful:
  • Passionate about cycling or other sports
  • Commercial understanding of retail gross margin and cross border trading
  • Experience working with Logistics, Supply Chain or Merchandising departments
  • Knowledge of eComm web trading
  • Knowledge of digital marketing
