We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. This is where you’ll enjoy a broad range of projects, no matter what your level, because our Corporate Affairs team is non-hierarchical and truly plugged in to the rest of the business. Whether it’s internal, external or government relations, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with everyone from food waste to health, or general merchandising to Nectar, in order to support some amazing campaigns. You’ll help build trust around Sainsbury’s with customers, senior stakeholders, media and more. And if non-linear progression is what you’re after, you’ll find opportunities are all around.
Why join us
Joining our team as a Food & Drink Consumer Communications Executive offers an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of our Consumer Communications team and contribute to delivering engaging PR campaigns and projects across our food business. You will have the chance to work on a diverse range of products and initiatives, including innovation across our own brand ranges, value and Nectar. The role will support the Senior Consumer Communications Manager and Consumer Communications Manager in the development and delivery of broader food and drink campaign strategies, where you'll be able to showcase your creativity, organisational and relationship-building skills. As part of our team, you'll benefit from a stimulating work environment, continuous learning and development opportunities, competitive salary, attractive benefits, and the flexibility to achieve a satisfying work-life balance.
What you'll do
You will play a critical role within the Consumer Communications team, supporting the delivery of exciting PR campaigns and projects across the food business. Your focus will be on own brand products, working closely with product development and buying teams to secure information and identify day-to-day PR opportunities. You will proactively manage the Food & Drink PR calendar, maximising coverage opportunities across various media platforms, and liaising with PR agencies and suppliers. Additionally, you will coordinate journalist sample requests, monitor the press for industry insights, and mentor the PR Assistant. As a brand guardian, you will ensure consistent branding across all PR assets. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and a keen interest in food trends and the media landscape will be essential to succeed in this role.
Who you are
You are a highly organised and detail-oriented individual, early in your career in Food & Drink PR or Consumer PR, coupled with a keen interest in the media landscape, including social media and influencers. You ideally have around two years’ experience in an in-house or agency role, and are at Account Executive or equivalent level. Your role is integral in delivering exciting PR campaigns and projects across our food business, with a focus on innovative own brand products. With your excellent communication skills, you will build and nurture relationships with internal teams, PR agencies, and journalists to secure information, identify PR opportunities, and maximise coverage. Your strong organisation skills allow you to proactively manage the PR calendar, coordinate sample requests, and mentor the team’s PR Assistant. As a brand guardian, you ensure consistent branding across all PR assets and align PR activities with marketing strategies to drive results. Your positive mindset, solution-oriented approach, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams make you a valuable asset to our team.
