BAFTA is looking for a Head of PR and Communications to join their talented Communications team on a 12 month fixed-term, maternity cover contract!
Our opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PR professional with a passion for Film, Games and Television to join BAFTA – a leading arts charity, academy and membership organisation. You will be responsible for driving media engagement with all of BAFTA’s activity – from our prestigious Awards ceremonies to our year-round learning and talent development programmes.
The Head of PR & Communications (FTC) will be responsible for bringing BAFTA’s vision and purpose to life to external audiences via the media – national, consumer and trade. This role requires creativity, drive and excellent media/press management skills, with established relationships with the key film and TV trade press outlets.
The role will require significant experience and proven ability to identify, plan for and manage potential reputational risk and high-profile PR crises.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Engagement, Marketing and Communications, you’ll use your influencing skills to quickly establish effective relationships with key stakeholders within BAFTA – where you’ll provide PR support and guidance on media handling. You will build on your strong relationships with the media, specifically film / TV trade press and arts and media editors in the national press, to generate positive press coverage and sentiment about BAFTA.
Please note this is a 12 month FTC, Maternity Cover.

Who you are?
  • A proven track record of devising and delivering strategic and creative PR plans – in film, arts, media
  • Extensive experience of handling high profile and complex media enquiries
  • Excellent relationships with the national press and film/TV trade press
  • Experience of large-scale events – awards ceremonies, film/TV premieres
  • Creative flair and ability to spot and cultivate opportunities for positive media coverage
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively with senior stakeholders and cross functional teams
  • Extensive experience working as a senior member of a communications team
  • Experience of line managing individuals and developing junior team members
  • Excellent written skills and keen attention to detail
  • Extensive experience of creating messaging which is simple and effective, and presenting ideas fluently
  • Proven experiences of writing and issueing reactive press statements, and writing Q&As, media handling plans
