As People Relations Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining inclusive employee relations strategies, policies, and procedures that align with ITN’s values and objectives. You will help support employees to ensure they are aware of the avenues possible to raise issues and concerns. You will provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on complex employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices and enabling commercial resolutions. You will also monitor and report on employee relations issues, develop and deliver people management training, and build strong relationships with the wider People Team.
Develop, implement, and maintain inclusive employee relations strategies, policies, tool-kits, and procedures aligned with an employee-centered culture and which support ITN’s values, goals, and objectives
Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management (in partnership with People Partners) on complex employee relations issues and matters such as performance management, disciplinaries, grievances, capability procedures, etc., advising on process, legislation, and potential areas of risk
Develop a series of training programmes and manager guidance documentation for all ER policies within ITN, in partnership with the People Partners
Efficient tribunal management: devise case management strategies for tribunal claims, including risk identification. Advise stakeholders on the prospects and risks of each claim. Support our People to prepare all necessary documents for tribunal hearings including case management preliminary hearings, judicial mediation
Settlement agreements: Advise on settlement agreement processes and terms, negotiate with employee’s solicitors for expedient and cost-effective exits
Monitor, measure, and report on ER issues, opportunities, lessons learned, achievements through data analysis for informed decision-making
Coach line managers and team leaders with people development skills, with a focus on effective ER processes and conversations
Ownership of the People Case Management tracker for ER cases and regular reporting of themes and escalations into PeopleLT and wider SLT as appropriate
Develop an ITN framework for freelancer case management, ensuring appropriate policies align and managers are trained on the engagement with freelancers
Support the delivery of people management training, working closely with the wider team to implement new training interventions and refine existing training based on participant feedback and manager knowledge gaps
Build strong, collaborative relationships with the wider People team to develop a consistent approach
Monitor trends in employee relations and employment law, and ensure policies, procedures, and templates as well as manager training are kept up to date and compliant
In collaboration with the D&I Partner, assess and review exit interview themes and report back to the PeopleLT on recommended actions as a result monthly
Provide refresher training, as appropriate to our nominated Hearing Managers and Salary Checkers
Review the ITN People Policy offering to ensure best practice and document manager training and People Team training alongside each policy
Induct new members of the People Team on all ITN policies and processes for employee relations in partnership with the DoP/CPO
Support the development and delivery of people initiatives at ITN in line with the wider people strategy

Proven experience of working in a similar role within ER, ideally within Media
Experience of advising on all aspects of Employment Law and providing practical and commercial advice, ideally in an in-house environment
Demonstrates comprehensive generalist HR knowledge
Extensive experience in employee relations, including the development and implementation of employee relations strategies, policies, and procedures
In-depth knowledge of employment law and best practice
Can produce written material to a high standard e.g., reports, contracts of employment, policies, and procedures
Highly organised and logical approach to managing priorities
Able to deal with a heavy workload with conflicting priorities whilst maintaining accuracy and achieving deadlines
Skilled in engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, to build relationships that are based on trust, to work collaboratively and to resolve issues, both internally and externally
Proactive approach and a self-starter who has experience working in a fast-paced media environment
Resilient and confident in approach with an exceptional understanding of UK employment law and legislation
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships
Strong commercial awareness driving process and operational improvements
