Job Purpose:
  • Manage all aspects of inventory management and supply chain activity to ensure excellent availability within the Open To Buy Constraints
  • Maximise availability and provide statistical analysis to determine the optimum range to achieve YOY growth and full sales potential
  • Ensures all KPIs are meet for the respective departments responsible for
  • Identify potential future issues and take corrective action before an issue
  • Heavily influence the strategic direction, department strategy and ranging architecture
  • Development and coaching of immediate team
  • Project Management of Ad Hoc events / pop-up shops / opportunities / etc. related to respective area

Job Accountabilities:
  • Production of statistical analysis of previous sales, brands, price points (etc.) to propose generic range architecture of future ranges
  • Significant input into the range sign off process
  • Check if the products proposed are commercially viable to range
  • Sign off sales forecasts
  • Sign off MOQ and Minimum Order Value
  • Sign off Intake plans to be created from the signed off sales forecasts
  • Authorise all orders for respective departments
  • Track if sales are performing as forecast. If not propose correcting actions
  • Monitor and understand and issues with expedited orders
  • Drive relationships with Suppliers / Depot / Shop Floor / On Line team
  • Complete understanding of Grade A and B lines (in terms of stock, orders, issues, pricing, promos etc)
  • Drive commercial actions need to address the lines in Grade C and D
  • Propose lines to drop and those requiring price cuts
  • Compile and communicate proposed sale lines
  • Monitor and suggest appropriate further action during sale if required
  • Monitor and report on OTIF (On time and in full deliveries)
  • Implement necessary measures to drive OTIF
  • Highlight to the business poor OTIF
  • Ensure excellent Order Management – i.e. the orders on the system reflect exactly what stock is due and when
  • Analysis of failed deliveries and take corrective actions
  • Track unwanted orders and value of inventory that are cancelled
  • Ensure Supplier Compliance Charges are raised as necessary.
  • Compile statistical data regarding volume of Supplier Compliance Charges
  • Work with Suppliers to address and improve Supplier Non-Compliance
  • Check if allocation parameters make commercial sense
  • Maintain availability within defined parameters – highlight future potential issues. Resolve before they become issues
  • Maintain and report against KPIs (e.g. stock holding, weeks cover, availability, sales forecast accuracy)
  • Articulate corrective action for any KPIs that are below target
  • Monitor and ensure stock queries from warehouse resolved within 48 hours
  • Ensure warehouse is performing as expected
  • Highlight any performance issues from warehouse and work with key stakeholders to resolve
  • Prepare data for regular reviews with buying, shop floor and VM
  • Ensure suppliers meeting our QVIS (Quality, Value, Innovation and Service) requirements
  • Coach Assistant Merchandisers and Merchandisers

  • Proposal of future strategy supported by clear facts and logic
  • Development of team members
Skills and experience required:
  • Candidates should currently be Merchandisers or Senior Merchandisers
  • 7 – 10 years’ Merchandising experience would be essential.
  • They should possess strong analytical skills, drive change, look at different ways of working, strong influencing skills, good communication skills at all levels, leadership, motivational and coaching skills are necessary.
