Description

ABOUT AVANT ARTE

Avant Arte wants to make art radically more accessible for a new generation. We began as a cult blog of contemporary artists and grew organically into the world’s largest and most engaged online art community, with more than 2 million of our followers under the age of 35. We collaborate with iconic contemporary artists like Jenny Holzer, Cai Guo-Qiang, Claire Tabouret and Hank Willis Thomas, making their work more accessible to younger collectors through sculpture editions, print editions and unique works on paper of exceptional quality.
We have built a highly engaged community of next-generation art collectors, which means our artist launches are heavily oversubscribed, with many behaving more like fashion drops, selling out in seconds.
Backed by early investors in companies like Skype, Farfetch, Glossier and Shopify (including Bessemer Venture Partners and Local Globe) as well as being featured on Otta’s 2022 Rocket List, we’re a team of just over 80 building one of the fastest growing tech companies in culture.
Our vision is to inspire a generation of millions of young people who love art like they love music and who collect works like they build their wardrobe.

OUR CULTURE

We’re a small team with really big ambitions, both for what we want to achieve and also the environment we’re building. We want to create a company that remains thoughtful as we scale and tries to be genuinely progressive in how we operate. We want people to really own what they do and be given the autonomy and freedom to make mistakes, learn, and create something meaningful.
We all work incredibly hard because we really care about what Avant Arte is here to do – we’re looking for exceptional people who are proactive, hungry to learn, and want to put their pride in our collective achievements.
In 2022, we were shortlisted for Women in Tech’s Best Employer - Small Company and Best Benefits. We know that creating an inclusive environment that promotes and values diversity is critical if we want to build something with impact and meaning. We believe that having diversity in age, background, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective will make us an infinitely better company.

Job requirements

WHAT WE NEED

This role will primarily be responsible for managing our Instagram and Tiktok channels, with a minority of the role tasked with managing smaller release campaigns in a more generalist capacity. We encourage candidates from both a social media and generalist marketing background to apply.

Social media management will represent around 80% of the role, and will involve:
  • Finding, curating and posting high-quality art-focused content that drives high engagement and follower growth.
  • Use channel expertise and analysis to provide guidance to the content team that helps them develop content that effectively supports our releases, driving sales.
  • Working with guidelines and high-level direction from the content team, turn content into posts, synthesising imagery and copy to create the finished article.
  • Moderating and responding to comments. Interacting with posts from our artists, collectors and community, reposting, replying or reacting in a way that furthers our aims as a business.
  • Acting as guardian of our accounts, ensuring that we maintain overall quality and coherence.
  • Use analytics tools to monitor the results of each of our releases on social channels, proactively suggesting solutions to improve performance.
  • Support the Marketing Lead in setting up and managing paid social campaigns for releases.

Campaign management will make up around 20% of the role, and will consist of the end-to-end co-ordination of campaigns. This will involve:
  • Defining marketing and channel plan and helping determine content needs
  • Co-ordinating the execution of the marketing and channel plan across channels, working with CRM and community managers, and comms team.
  • Monitoring the campaign performance during the campaign, making necessary adjustments in-flight.
  • Analysing results post-campaign, developing recommendations for future improvements.

The exact split between these two functions may vary as the role develops. Initially, the focus will be entirely on social media, with campaign management being introduced only when fully up to speed on the social part of the role.

The main skills we’re looking for are:
  • Deep knowledge of Instagram, with an intuitive understanding of how different types of content performs, and a knack for identifying and creating highly-engaged posts, reels and stories.
  • A love and appreciation of art, and a natural affinity with an audience of art enthusiasts.
  • Adept at interacting with and responding to communities on social media.
  • Able to create a structured content strategy for social media that coherently balances multiple competing priorities (release marketing, follower growth, brand).
  • Good writing skills, with the ability to deliver well-written Instagram captions with minimal direction.
  • Able to find and curate engaging art content that drives high engagement and follower growth, while remaining on brand.
  • An entrepreneurial desire to continually push the envelope of our social content, creating, experimenting and iterating with new ideas, formats and approaches in a way that drives the continual improvement of the channel; the ability to inspire and work hand-in-hand with our content team in the execution of those ideas, or execute them themselves when required.
  • The ability to go beyond channel specialism, and act as an effective generalist marketer when required; a strategic way of thinking, an interest in other channels, and the skills to coordinate a small cross-functional team working on a campaign.
  • Proficient analytical skills in order to track and report on performance

We think you’ll probably have:
  • Experience in a social media and/or generalist marketing role.
  • Direct experience of managing an organic social media account.
  • Video editing and simple graphic design skills a bonus

Don’t meet every single requirement? Avant Arte is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic team so we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:
  • You’ll get to be part of building one of the fastest growing tech companies in culture, backed by early investors in companies like Skype, Farfetch, Glossier and Facebook.
  • Generous equity allowance
  • Private Healthcare (UK)
  • Enhanced pension contributions and parental leave policies
  • 25 days of holiday plus one extra company wide days on Kings Day (national holiday in the Netherlands which falls in April) & company closure days between Christmas and New Years
