How do you make wearable payments technology fun, accessible and affordable, especially for those unwilling or unable to engage with other payments systems such as Apple Pay?
The popularity of wearable fitness wristbands, particularly among Millenials, led Barclaycard to trial a bPay payments band at music festivals, with great success.
Building on this, the ambition was big. What about a band that not only lets you pay, but could open doors for you? What if it stored your gym membership at the same time as letting you buy your lunch?
Launched in July 2015 customers purchase a bPay device (wristband, key fob or sticker) and create a wallet on the bPay secure website, which can be topped up by any debit or credit card.
