Challenging Hair Stereotypes

A campaign between The New York Times x Dove exploring how Gen Zers and their parents see their hair as a way to embrace positive identity and greater diversity.

We interviewed and photographed three Gen Z women who view their hair as an expression of individuality.

They each spoke about their personal journeys to embrace their hair and shared how they’ve been inspired by their parents and, in turn, came to inspire their parents.

To align with the newsroom’s coverage of this emergent generation, the series used a Q. and A. format and the photography-led content ran in native slideshow ad units.
