Mental health is a “hot topic”, except amongst young people. We wanted to help youth charity The Mix to open up the conversation amongst teenagers, so we created a pro bono campaign to support them. We started work with virtually no production budget and pulled a passionate team together to make four films. We convinced media agencies to run our ads and they donated over 125k of ad space for television, cinema and online.

One guy summarised the problem of his generation plain and simple:
“Girls talk, guys don’t”
We decided it was a perception we needed to turn on it’s head, and it became the insight of our campaign.
The films are made by a young director and influencers who are all very open about their own mental health. Each story relates to them, but is based on the life of real teenagers supported by The Mix.
The films were all shot on Kodak film, creating a fragile yet moody look. It added several challenges for our team, especially since we only had enough film for one take of each scene.
