Queen & Slim UK Photo Competition
For the UK premiere of Queen & Slim, the VAGUE team were commissioned by Entertainment One to support the regional marketing efforts in Manchester, UK.
In addition to curating and managing several events and workshops across the city, a team of CREW and PLUG members from the VAGUE community managed a national photography competition, producing an editorial and short film for the accompanying marketing campaign.
The photography competition, titled "We Are Here" was inspired by the scene in the film where Junior takes the couple-on-the-lam's photograph in his father's garage, and saw photographers from as far as Leeds and London submit dynamic photos that captured their city's legacy using the "We Are Here" assets provided by VAGUE designers.
We then invited Melina Matsoukas to judge the competition, with winners receiving signed posters by the cast and crew, and all submissions being exhibited at one of the preview screenings at Cultureplex.
The campaign was filmed at multiple iconic sites in Manchester's city centre including the Royal Exchange Theatre, a former corn exchange turned theatre.
