For the last two years i've been designing the layout for The City Talking, a free cultural newspaper and magazine that highlights the voices of people and cities around the country.
As well as it being refreshing to see and read something as high quality pushing forward in a domain seen as in decline, it's a great product to work on due to the felxibility and experimentation i'm afforded in its design.
Aside from a grid and font choices, there are few rules to follow in its design, allowing me to make the most of the space to push the photography into the foreground while words fall around the page as they please.
The initial design for the newspaper was already in place when I joined the company, which I adapted and refined when it transitioned to a smaller magazine format.
