Problem The refugee crisis is now bigger than ever with 65.3 million displaced people worldwide. While charities in the camps help to provide food and clothes we wanted to tackle a different issue. To change the way refugees are viewed in the media.
Solution We had the idea of creating a football tournament for refugees in the north of France and we called it The Liberté Cup after the French motto Liberté Egalite Fraternite. It was a big idea and it needed some big support.
Partnerships
To make it happen we pitched the idea to football channel Copa 90, teamed up with charities like Fuze beyond borders and The Worldwide Tribe and gained funding for a 30 minute documentary from ITV.
Result On September 10th teams travelled far and wide to take part in the tournament. The day was a huge success with media coverage spreading our message across the world and social posts from pro players like Lionel Messi, achieving our goal of changing the media perception. The documentary is due to be released on ITV hub. Brands we pitched to Bigballs Media, Copa90, ITV Hub, Ary & Joe, Fuze Beyond Borders, FARE network, Football Supporters Europe, The Worldwide Tribe, Wear A Sports Shirt, 6pointer, Final Cut, Bullion Productions, Utopia56, Giuseppe Bianco, Grande-Synthe Mairie, Instagram, Ever and ever, Kick It Out, Bojan Krkik.
