- David Shrigley unveils new work at sketchCelebrated British artist, David Shrigley, has transformed The Gallery at sketch for the second time with a fresh new exhibition, part of a long-term programme of artist-led features at the iconic London venue. Shrigley has replaced his 239 existing black and white drawings launched at the gallery in 2014, with 91 new colourful new works. David Shrigley is celebrated internationally for his distinctive drawing style and works imbued with dry humour, which cut to the point of human nature, making satirical comments on everyday situations and interactions. Recurring themes pervade his story telling, capturing child-like views of the world; the perspective of aliens and monsters or the compulsive habits of an eavesdropper shouting out loud. The new work will continue to offer a side order of humour for diners through these light-hearted works that portray oblique news headlines to digest along with their afternoon tea or dinner. sketch.london14
Work history
Marketing InternScott & Co
London, United KingdomInternship
Currently, I am an intern at Scott & Co, where I worked with the team to ensure that Frieze Art Fair 2017, one of the largest international events of its kind, was a success. I was responsible for ensuring that all media coverage for Frieze was clipped and sent to the client in daily coverage emails, whilst simultaneously maintaining the collation of coverage for other non-Frieze clients. I strategised Scott & Co’s Frieze social media plan, utilising tools like Planoly and Hootsuite to fore-plan and ensure consistent engagement between the client, public and press throughout Frieze week. I have attended and contributed to press breakfasts, and regularly liase with journalists and social media influencers. This has consolidated my exposure to different types of longlead, shortlead and social media press, and developed my understanding of their differing demands and workings. I frequently produce copy for press releases and company blog posts, perform research tasks, proof-read for colleagues and am currently pitching to journalists for a client’s Christmas coverage. I am competent in Excel, Word and Pages, and familiar working with online databases like HighRise.

In my spare time, I review for TheatreFullStop, a blog for young voices interested in the arts. I am therefore expanding my connections with young professionals in the arts, and ensuring I have regular contact with the industry.
