I'm 26 years old currently working in the music festival industry.
I currently work as a PR Assistant at Festival Republic which is part of the Live Nation umbrella. At the moment, even though I have an assistant position I take on work that is expected of a more senior role as well as my usual requirements. My tasks include writing up reports, setting meetings, organising press events, writing press releases, looking after EU festivals such as Benicassim and Lollapalooza Berlin, attending gigs, and being an adviser for upcoming bands.
After interning for 6 months, I was hired as a regional publicist. Here I worked with such bands as Refused, Basement, Big Ups, Fear Of Men, Modern Baseball, JAWS, The 1975, Wolf Alice, and much more.
This was short work experience at an award winning PR agency located in central London. I have assisted within the lifestyle and media departments, working on brands such as Levis, MEATLiquor, Hendricks and Mr. Black. Here my role was to put together media lists, research influencers, assist with the running of the office and writing copy when needed, as well as social media content calendars.
This is an ongoing position that I do from my phone/laptop. Here my tasks are to create content for the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as replying to user queries to build relationships. I work directly with the CEO and send him a report of impact measurement. Pancake Day 2015 was a weeklong campaign that went viral with photos of the limited edition menu. I develop relationships with bloggers and brands such as ASOS to post photos of their meals and drive traffic. Events such as Fashion Week were provided with take away food in exchange for social media posts.
This was a six-month internship at a music publicist/PR company. Here my role includes developing and managing content for the bi-monthly mailer via Mail Chimp, supporting the PR process for artists in the form of copywriting and packaging promotional CDs within a watermark system and supporting members of the team. I also monitor press and provide press cutting where feasible, as well as liaising with journalists. This gives me valuable insight into how PR works, especially in the music industry.
Here it was my role to represent local hairdressers/beauticians and approach those working in the area with introductory offers. This was a sales role where I was self-employed 5 days a week. Confidence was a huge part of this due to selling my personality. I broke the sale record of most sales made within a 10-day trial as well as taken on a business trip in my first week. This was a largely independent role, but required being part of a team when it was needed. I had to time manage my day since I was out in territory till late, as well as basic admin for inputting sales.
This was a month long position in a record store. I had to help the owner make sure products are ready to go online and they have the appropriate copy, images and sizing. Assist the online editor to make sure the customer can find our products in the correct categories on the site and through search and ensure all informational content is as clear and concise as possible as well as trying to improve the ease with which customers can find the information they are looking for. I also had to organise new deliveries and package deliveries to be sent out.
In this interning role I am responsible for all social media (Facebook/twitter), contacting future clients, setting up events, arranging products to give away via social media, using Microsoft Office packages, writing/replying to emails, setting up meetings, making/answering phone calls, readying equipment and other tasks.
This is an online music site where I contribute music reviews. This is a purely payment free position which I work on in my free time. Here I use my clear writing skills to a professional standard using Microsoft Office. I also help out with live events that happen within London, involving the putting on of shows and other organisational aspects.
