In Deep Ship - Rare & XBOX Game Studios D&AD Submission 2020In Deep Ship is a group submission for the D&AD New Blood Awards 2020: Rare and Microsoft Studios brief. Together, we created a framework and concept for the game, which we brought to life through our different specialisms. BA (Hons) Graphic Communication and IllustrationLoughborough University
     - Loughborough, United Kingdom
The course combined graphic design and illustration in one degree; purposefully flexible to allow my interests to direct my learning and the teaching of skills that can be applied to a greater range of industries. First year focused on exploring the various fields encompassed under Graphic Design (app and web development, animation, visual identity and branding, illustration, photography, typography and publishing) before beginning to specialise, applying my illustration skills to the various briefs including Graphic Narrative and Publishing. In my final year I produced a report on Concept Artists and their role in the wider industry which directed the work I would produce. With A strong focus on portraying narrative I explored various methods of doing so, producing Animatics, Concept Art, Comic Art and Illustration.

The Foundation course offered a fast-paced and creative environment that allowed me to further develop my artistic ability. Offering both theoretical and practical learning in Visual Communication, Fine Art and 3D Design to gain a solid grounding in the conceptual, practical and theoretical elements. The course encouraged experimenting with a broad range of skills and mediums before identifying a specialism to follow onto an undergraduate degree.
