Anrike Piel is an Estonian born multidisciplinary artist, founder of #peaceinexile, a practitioner at The Center for Syrian Studies and social justice activist based in London, UK.
Her work addresses migration, inequality, and war, confronting the human experience while embracing resilience and femininity.
Using her expertise Anrike developed a program for young female refugees, offering psychosocial support by activating them and teaching self-empowerment through creative expression. From slums in Lebanon, a refugee camp in Greece, back in her home country Estonia, Anrike has taught young women and girls how to create storytelling images and videos that express their individual experiences. In the recent years, Anrike has facilitated ‘’Peace in Exile’’ workshops to activate and empower women residing in refugee camps through different forms of creativity.

- Peace in ExileSpending years creating storytelling fashion imagery, Anrike Piel used her expertise on developing a program for young female refugees, that offers psychosocial support by activating them and teaching self-empowerment through creative expression. - Modern VenusThink with me here for a moment - I ask you to sympathize with the women that have been fleeing war on terror in the last years. Children’s wellbeing as a priority, they cross the sea by small rubber boats. 1st attempt, 2nd attempt, 3rd attempt, the faulty dinghy begins drowning. Praying for the rescue teams to arrive quick. Thousands of dollars spent on smugglers. Now telling the children they’re camping because how else can a mother explain to a child that they are sleeping rough on
- Mick Moon x Yasmyn - Forbidden Fruit ( Official Video )Forbidden Fruit music video is a beautified and poetic reflection of the consequences of over consumerism, turning waste into trashion. Guided by the dreamy slow jam and wavy melodies, the siblings Mick Moon and Yasmyn reminisce about childhood through rose-tinted glasses, while singing a song dedicated to a late family member. The music video's many layers deserve close examination to fully parse but ends with a clear confrontation illustrating that we’re the kings of pollution. Artists Mick
- Peace in ExilePeace in Exile is a program that empowers and activates women residing in refugee camps, ultimately creating a safe space for them. During the workshops female refugees discover different ways to renew second hand clothing, use makeup, paint, pose like models, amongst other things, always focusing on developing their own ideas and tastes. It is a blissful time when all worries stay behind the door, women embrace their femininity and have the freedom to dream. Exhibitions and more coming soon!
- Family TiesFamily Ties was inspired by the Huguenots from 17th century, they suffered severe persecution at the hands of the Catholic majority, and many thousands emigrated from France to England. Due to the current refugee situation I wanted to tell a story of a single mom trying to make a better life for her son. Show the part of a refugee life that media forgets to mention. photography: Anrike Piel muses: Karla Neff and Rocco styling: Madlen Uhlemann @ PerfectProps makeup and hair: Victoria Reuter
