As a producer/director I have been working in the industry for over ten years now and have created short films, music videos, branded and unbranded content and some terrible attempts at nonchalant humour in job applications. I am currently working as a Senior Producer/Director for a corporate and commercials agency in Shoreditch Vismedia.Agency https://vismedia.agency/
As one of the three in house PD’s for this creative agency, I report to the Head of Production and the Managing Director and in my capacity as a producer/director I provide a complete service for our clients delivering high quality content on budget and on time.
I work directly with clients (including Astrazeneca, DS Smith, Glencore, HSBC, Mastercard and Unilever) or through PR agencies (including Fleet Street PR, Headland and Teneo Blue Rubicon), to write and pitch creative concepts and proposals; and then lead the entire process from initial brief to final delivery.
Through working with clients and PR agencies there is always a focus on client management and development to further grow projects and cultivate new projects. Working with Glencore across 2017 what started as a project for 7 films at £70,000 became a project with over 100 original deliverables and a spend of over £200,000.
Highlights from my time working at VisMedia.agency include winning Digital Impact Award’s Digital Campaign of the Year Award (and also Gold in the award for the Best Use of Digital from the Engineering and Manufacturing Sector) for my Cory Riverside Energy immersive 360 tour project (alongside being nominated for a BIMA award) and producing a slate of films for Glencore’s HSEC Safety campaign across 4 continents and 7 countries (Canada, Kazakhstan, S. Africa, Switzerland and Zambia). These hero films adopted an “ob-doc” approach and followed a Glencore worker from each region for a number of days at home and in the mine, as they demonstrated safe work and safe living.
In the past I have produced and directed broadcast music videos for label Armada Records, directed short films that were commissioned by the UK Film Council and also produced social media content for Ball Street and The Redmen TV. I have been developed by The UK Film Council, The Script Factory and the National Film and TV School and trained by Mike Figgis, Brian Percival and Dario Argento.
I have a lot of experience in new technologies and immersive technology; I have produced immersive tech across 360 photography, 360 videos, 360 computer generated 3D spaces and augmented reality solutions. These have been produced for companies including Barclays, Cory Riverside Energy, Akzo Nobel, AstraZeneca and Unilever.
With this content I have provide clients with new and innovative solutions to their promotional needs. This has included fully immersive 360 tours of real spaces; tours of CGI spaces that will be built and VR CGI rendered spaces for training purposes. I have also created AU (augmented reality) solutions for clients including posters and standees that trigger video content and hidden markers that are used, in conjunction with apps, to activate videos, stills and interactive quizzes.
This includes creating Barclay’s first ever foray into Virtual Reality with an AGM film “Back to the Barclay’s Future” and Unilever’s first Augmented Reality campaign (promoting wellbeing for their employees).
I have produced social media content for a variety of social media football fan channels including The Redmen TV and Ball Street. The Redmen TV has 200,000 plus YouTube subscribers, 250,000 plus Facebook friends and 125,000 followers on Twitter. I worked as one of two content producers for them for two years. On average we produced 25 videos a week covering Liverpool Football Club, from a team of two producers and two presenters, to average viewing figures of around 250,000 views a week..
I have a very good knowledge of the post-production process. I can edit using Adobe Premier and I have worked with animators and editors on creating content which has including GFX, graphics, motion graphics, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, colour correction and grading, sound design and sound mixing and encoding and exporting.
I am level-headed, hard working, and creatively driven. I have lots of experience working to challenging timeframes (same day release results films; that evening release news shows), under pressure (live webcasting events and conferences) and working with a variety of budgets from sub £1k to over £200,000 per project.
I love learning about new industries, people’s stories and the processes behind companies, life, how things are made and why things are the way they are. I love collaboration, idea generation and problem solving and I am a ridiculously well organised person with a great memory (much to my girlfriend’s annoyance).
Working on a shoot in Zambia and South Africa for three weeks (and then three weeks in Canada) with the same cameraman, DIT and client rep, was a true test of the ability to step outside of comfort zones and work to challenges (especially when on the same day one cameraman electrocuted himself and the DIT got hospitalised with malaria). I like to think I am a generally affable, good team player with a high attention to detail and a genuine enthusiasm and passion for the work I do.
