End to end project management, including venue sourcing, supplier management, event design and delivery of Cancer Research UK’s national Flame of Hope Awards programme and ceremony, recognising the charities most outstanding volunteers. To organise and implement the charity’s portfolio of supporter engagement events, to ensure that these add value to the organisation and inspire, motivate and recognise our supporters. Manage event budgets of up to £70,000.
Developed and implemented long term strategies for the Student Activities department - Sport, Societies, Volunteering and RAG (Raise and Give). Planned and delivered large scale events; including opening and closing ceremonies of the largest inter university varsity sports tournament in Europe, National RAG Conference (200 attendees from 40 universities and 70 charities in attendance) Fresher’s Fairs (3,000 attendees) and Annual Awards ceremonies. Strategic review of existing student societies, volunteering projects and RAG activity and was instrumental in their future development. Led the department’s training and development provision of all student volunteers. Oversaw departmental budget of £225k.
Supported student volunteers in both community volunteering and fundraising activities. Created and delivered training for volunteers to develop their skills across a variety of areas, such as leadership, finance, sponsorship, communication and marketing. Organised large scale events such as Volunteering and RAG Weeks and residential camps. Assisted RAG and Volunteering groups with recruitment, production of budgets, grant applications and fundraising plans.
Led the strategy and delivery of Student Activities (Societies, Volunteering and RAG). Recruited, trained and led a team of 200 volunteers to support the Students’ Union Fresher’s week activities and 200 volunteers to raise £27,000 in RAG week. Trustee of the £2.5 million organisation and Governor of Northumbria University for 2 years. Part of the team responsible for achieving NUS Higher Education Students’ Union of the Year Award for Northumbria Students’ Union.
