Yes, I’m Brie, like the cheese. I’m a proactive, multi-disciplinary, conceptual-thinking graphic communication designer who comes from a different background than what you might expect. I started off with a undergraduate (BA) degree in global affairs and developmental economics with a minor in photography. I then worked as a professional photographer on Capitol Hill, in Washington DC, before switching to advertising. After four years working in the industry, I decided to get a degree more related to my field. I recently acquired my masters (MA) in graphic communication design from Central St. Martins—and picked up a few awards along the way, more notably for my work with Fail Better Talks.

At Fail Better, we believe that there’s value to be found in disastrous design. In an effort to de-stigmatise 'failure', we want to honour glorious design botches for the invaluable lessons that they teach us. It's daring to take risks in design, and talking about them when it all goes pear-shaped is even more ballsy. Our monthly symposium gives voice to 4 intrepid designers to speak candidly of their worst ever creative work and, more importantly, what they've learned from it.
There’s no greater hindrance to the creative process than a crippling fear of failure, so let's crush our trepidation with a series of hilarious anecdotes, a touch of schadenfreude, and lots of laughter. Fail Better will encourage designers to take more risks in their design work. After all, what is the worst that could happen? You could end up being one of our speakers.

Activities and Societies: Started Fail Better Talks, a monthly symposium that celebrates failures, with Likando Kumoyo, Etty Flynn and Hannah Kelly. We were motivated by the lack of discussion about failure in the industry, our own struggles coping with failure, and the belief that there’s value to be found in disastrous work. In an effort to de-stigmatise 'failure', we want to honour glorious design botches for the invaluable lessons that they teach us we started Fail Better Talks.
Obtained my Masters of Arts in Graphic Communication Design. Worked with real world clients including: The Whistle, Hammerton Brewery, and Louis Jadot.

Side Hustle is all about the people who make shit happen. So D&AD want you to show them your brand new, fresh ideas that you’re not just hiding in the corner of your portfolio but that you’ve made a reality."
At Fail Better, we believe that there’s value to be found in disastrous design. Shaped by the lack of conversation around failure in the creative industries, our monthly talk series celebrates all things imperfect.
Every month, we give four ballsy creatives the counterintuitive task of opening up to an audience about their finest flops, misfires, catastrophes and, more importantly, what they've learned from them. We've been absolutely blown away by the willingness of recent graduates, tutors and some of the biggest names in the industry to bare all, by telling us about all of the lessons they've had to learn the hard way.
Everyone has messed up at some point in their career, so what better way to de-stigmatise 'failure' in the creative sphere than running a talk series with a difference; packed full of hilarious anecdotes of mishaps, misfortunes and misunderstandings.
As students, it's been refreshing to hear so many honest and open accounts of some of the realities of working in the creative field. The response from the public has been overwhelming; we're chuffed to be able to say that we've had a full house at every event so far.
Our speakers have all been incredibly candid and truthful about their experiences with failure, but so has our audience; Fail Better's following has been so supportive of the talk series that we've even started to introduce an open mic to the events (the liquid courage was on us), so that anyone in the audience can share a funny design clanger with the room. What story would you tell?
