SU54 Africa tech.We set up a company as part of a hackathon weekend where my team, Tabchain won (judges votes, mentors feedback, and have received the highest mock “investment” from the other competing teams). The 3-day event was called “Startup 54: Africa tech” and was co-organised by Foundervine and Pivotal labs. The premise was that teams had to form an idea based around a problem in Africa, work on a solution in conjunction with industry mentors from the UK and companies in Africa and then pitch to judges, w

My logistical mind meant that I was the link between the programme leader on the ground and the NCS staff in the office. This meant showcasing an ability to meet deadlines, set priorities and work both autonomously and with a team. Showcasing confidence in project management and implementation as well as working well under pressure. These qualities were modeled by: 1. Handling and relaying sensitive information such as medical forms. 2. Site risk assessments. 3. Planning transport (coaches and public transport) for each team to ensure they reach their day venue. 4. Handling of money, receipts and change for teams that used public transport. 5. Ordering and distributing food orders for groups of 95-100 people. 6. Resource allocation of laptops, cameras and etc per team for the next day. 7. Liaising with the accommodation staff for maintenance requests such as faulty showers

Successfully coached multidisciplinary teams to receive maximum seed funding for their prospective social projects to affect social change in their local community. The role required great verbal and written communication, and a proactive, creative yet analytical mind. This involved: • Daily check ins with the young people to get their opinion on the progression of the team and the project. • Facilitating sessions with a project manager so that they can both run ice breakers and run activities on the nuances of personal responsibility. • Delivering presentations to both my group (13 young people) and the entire wave (152 people) • Quelling my teams Communication anxieties about speaking in front of large crowds and speaking to companies.

My team participated in and won a Foundervine hackathon. In a weekend we had to create a company that solves a problem within the African continent. We had to take on board feedback from industry mentors, feedback from people currently working on the continent, and then pitch our company to people in senior positions at some of London's most prestigious companies.
